Summary

From celebrated Lebanese-Canadian poet and speaker, Najwa Zebian, comes this revised and expanded edition of her debut collection。

Mind Platter is a compilation of reflections on life as seen through the eyes of an educator, student, and human who experienced her early days in silence。 It is written in the words of a woman who came from Lebanon to Canada at the age of sixteen and experienced what it was like to have fate push her to a place where she didn't belong。 It is written in the voice of every person who has felt unheard, mistreated, misjudged, or unseen。

The book contains over 200 one-page reflections on topics we encounter in our everyday lives: love, friendship, hurt, inspiration, respect, motivation, integrity, honesty, and more。 Mind Platter is not about the words it contains, but what the reader makes of them。 May this book give a voice to those who need one, be a crying shoulder for those who yearn for someone to listen, and inspire those who need a reminder of the power they have over their lives。

3。5 stars。 This is a collection of Najwa’s short reflections and philosophies on life。 They range from insightful nuggets of wisdom to more clichéd platitudes。 It’s basically a book of advice, or a self-help book written in verse-like paragraphs。 They started off strong but quickly got repetitive which felt a bit boring。 My favorites: “rest your heart,” “stay true to yourself,” “broken wings,” “respect me,” “take responsibility,” “feel me,” “the power of silence,” “invest your feelings wisely,” 3。5 stars。 This is a collection of Najwa’s short reflections and philosophies on life。 They range from insightful nuggets of wisdom to more clichéd platitudes。 It’s basically a book of advice, or a self-help book written in verse-like paragraphs。 They started off strong but quickly got repetitive which felt a bit boring。 My favorites: “rest your heart,” “stay true to yourself,” “broken wings,” “respect me,” “take responsibility,” “feel me,” “the power of silence,” “invest your feelings wisely,” “be content,” “through their eyes,” “my philosophy,” and “dusty bookshelf。” 。。。more

This book is good for self-reflection。

Heavenly Great book, but an honest opinion, that THE NECTAR OF PAIN by Najwa Zebian, THE SUN AND HER FLOWERS by Rupi Kaur and RECLAIM YOUR HEART by Yasmin Mogahed have almost almost same topics to talk about, so better to read one of them and most preferably Reclaim your Heart as it summarizes all the topics related to our daily life issues。

“Mind Platter” is a book full of brief expressions。 I didn't think it was a book of poetry, but it was like motivation。 Because his words are like an experience and a living observation。 And this is the first time I'm reading Najwa Zebian's and I'll probably collect her physical book。。For reading this book would be a personal motivation for me。 Apart from good words and like an experience, it is also easy to understand。 And each page has its own meaning for every different reader, and it has its “Mind Platter” is a book full of brief expressions。 I didn't think it was a book of poetry, but it was like motivation。 Because his words are like an experience and a living observation。 And this is the first time I'm reading Najwa Zebian's and I'll probably collect her physical book。。For reading this book would be a personal motivation for me。 Apart from good words and like an experience, it is also easy to understand。 And each page has its own meaning for every different reader, and it has its own story。 When reading this you may find the page that the story describes your life and related to you。。I marked a few pages on the “Mind Platter, was one of my favorites,“Stay True to YourselfDon't worry about what people think of you or about the way they try to make you feel。 If people want to see you as a good person, they will。 If people want to see you as a bad person, absolutely nothing you do will stop them。 Ironically, the more you try to show them your good intentions, the more reason you give them to knock you down。 Keep your head up high and be confident in what you do。 Be confident in your intentions and keep your eyes ahead instead of wasting your time on those who want to drag you back。 Because you can't change people's views, you have to believe that true change for yourself comes from within you, not from anyone else。” 。。。more
